About Mekiya ​

Stepping Out was founded because of my own life experiences, which at one time or another left me feeling boxed in. I had so many issues in life that were thrown at me, that made me have a strong feeling of helplessness. And because I had so few people in my younger years that could, or would help me to understand those feelings that I was left to deal with I carried those feeling of always being boxed in. I never felt truly loved, never felt that I was ever enough, inadequate, not understood, unappreciated, and my dreams and aspirations were always totally overlooked.  And I was told that my thirst for life was a bit much.  But the most important thing for me is that I never felt truly loved by those that I was entrusted to, who would mold me and so-journey with me from childhood to womanhood.  And let me state that when young women are not exposed to love in the right way, they look for love in all the wrong ways.

I was very inquisitive at an early age and had a strong spiritual awareness. How dare me, especially have that, or the deep rooted awareness that there was a deep rooted purpose for my life, and had so many aspirations and dreams, and was told time and time again that this would not be acceptable in this world. That I should just dummy down and not chase my dreams and desires to be amazing; and might I say that there were very few strong women mentors (or the tribe) who were capable of being there for me. They themselves in my time were so broken and barely holding on to life they did not afford me the opportunity to see more than just that.

 

So I have, for a part of my life, felt boxed in and I have so many amazing gifts, interest, desires, and most of all an unquenchable desire to love on, birth out, and speak life into those who are searching for themselves and just need someone to see them and appreciate who they are as an individual, so that they would never feel boxed in. I have been healed from all of the above and if there is no one around that will love you, push you, and help you to be an achiever then our next generation will always be threatened.

At this time, in my life, my assignment is to help young women transition into womanhood so that our next generation will be developed but not from brokenness. This is the living entity Stepping Out, which will serve a purpose that is so needed in this society, it was grounded in love first.

If you don't know, love is not just a word but it is an action. As for me there is nothing greater in life than helping young women to tap into their potential, and help her to transition into womanhood...so that our next generation will have Wellness, Mind, Soul, & Body.
